Chapadas du Brésil

The Chapadas are a stunning showcase of natural beauty and diverse ecosystems, each offering unique landscapes and experiences - such as trails, waterfalls, wells, rivers, caves and rock art. In other words: perfect for ecotourists. The Chapada Diamantina is the most famous of the Brazilian chapadas and is located in Bahia. In the mid-19th century, deposits of diamonds and gold were discovered in the region. Several of the trails used by tourists today are the result of this search for precious materials back in the day. Chapada dos Veadeiros is in the state of Goiás, 230km from Brasília. It is located on top of an immense quartz plate and is therefore known as a mystical place. Chapada dos Guimarães is one of the smallest but most easily accessible in the state of Mato Grosso. It is home to the region's most emblematic waterfall, the Véu de Noiva waterfall, with its 86-meter drop.

Chapada Diamantina

A dramatic landscape of caves, rivers, and waterfalls, Chapada Diamantina is Bahia’s hidden treasure. Once a diamond mining region, today it's a haven for trekkers, nature lovers, and those who want to dive into Brazil’s raw, untouched beauty. Highlights include the blue-water caves of Poço Encantado and Poço Azul, the 380-meter Cachoeira da Fumaça (Brazil’s second tallest waterfall), and multi-day hikes through ancient valleys. The town of Lençóis serves as the main gateway, with colonial charm and cozy pousadas.

Chapada dos Veadeiros

A spiritual and ecological sanctuary, Chapada dos Veadeiros is one of Brazil’s most captivating natural destinations. Known for its waterfalls, canyons, quartz crystal fields, and biodiversity, the park attracts both adventure seekers and those in search of energy and healing. Located in the heart of Goiás, this UNESCO World Heritage Site also has a mystical aura - many believe the region sits atop a powerful crystal plate. Enjoy guided hikes, swim in emerald pools, and explore charming villages like Alto Paraíso.

Chapada dos Guimarães

Close to the geographical center of South America, Chapada dos Guimarães offers an otherworldly landscape of red cliffs, waterfalls, and savannah-like plateaus. Just an hour from Cuiabá, this national park is rich in natural wonders and indigenous history. Highlights include the Véu de Noiva waterfall, scenic lookouts over vast canyons, and archaeological sites with prehistoric cave paintings. It’s a place of quiet beauty, perfect for those looking to explore Brazil’s lesser-known wild side.
